How do you want your ad to look? Attach a sample of what you want your ad to look like, along with all other materials. Photo: must be digital, 300dpi and cmyk. Logo: must be digital (prefer Illustrator eps but will accept jpg, tif, pdf), 300dpi and cmyk. Headline and Text: must be typed in a Word document or e-mailable text. Company Address: provide complete address, phone number and website. Alegria Living will provide a full image color scan, logo scan, typesetting, design, layout and two proofs. Additional proofs are $20.
Ad Specifications
Publication trim size: 8.375” x 10.875”
- Live elements not intended to bleed must be at least 0.25” from the trim on all four sides.
- Minimum bleed allowance 0.125”. For spread ads, keep live elements 0.25” from the gutter on each side.
- Ruled proof or crop marks indicating trim size must be provided for positioning or ad will be centered. Fractional ads must precisely fit outlined specifications.
- Due to press deadlines, proofs for ads received more than 5 business days after the close may not be available for client approval.
Digital files must be supplied on CD. Ads may be submitted via email, subject to prior arrangement with the production department. Ads submitted electronically also require a contract quality proof.
Formats
Press-ready PDF (preferred). PDFs must be saved as PDFX1a format or created with the following settings: 2400 dpi, 150 line-art frequency, CMYK, all layers flattened, and all fonts embedded or outlined. When saving PS files out of Quark6, set trapping preferences to knock out all.
Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign files are accepted. Mac platform only. All fonts must be included or converted to outline, all files flattened and CMYK only, all images and graphics included. No other applications are accepted. Film is not accepted. High Resolution Acrobat PDF: must be created with Acrobat Distiller v.4 or later (press optimized), with high-resolution graphics and fonts embedded. PDFX1a format files must be CMYK composite, fonts embedded and trapping included.
Graphics, Color, Fonts
All graphics must be at least 300dpi at 100% in the document. Only CMYK process colors are to be used. RGB files will not be accepted. Compressed images such as JPEG or LZW are also unacceptable media formats. PDF files with spot color graphics or compressed files embedded may yield unsatisfactory results when printed. Only Mac
postscript fonts are acceptable for print; both printer and screen fonts must be included.
Proofs
A SWOP standard contract proof with color bars is required. We are not responsible for color or content inconsistency if a SWOP color proof for color ads is not provided. Note: Color laser print-outs (even on photographic paper) are not considered accurate for color and are not acceptable, except for content.
